The atmosphere at the Boys & Girls Club (BGC) Schatz Branch was electric at the unveiling of the club’s new Lift Zone computer lab. As the technical provider behind this transformative project, NPCE is thrilled to have contributed in the creation of this educational space filled with cutting-edge technology and tools designed to inspire and empower young minds.
A generous contribution from Comcast to establish a digital equity network in the South Sound Region made the Lift Zones initiative possible – it represents a computer lab project that provides a wealth of technological resources and opportunities for BGC members. A significant portion of this investment was dedicated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the South Puget Sound and funded the Schatz Branch Club’s Lift Zone.
This Lift Zone is equipped with a range of state-of-the-art technology, including a Dremel DigiLab 3D Printer, Vevor Vinyl Cutting Plotter, 30 Dell Latitude laptop stations with large monitors, two high-powered computer stations for advanced graphic design, music production, and programming, and 17 STEAM education kits. This technology was carefully integrated into the space to provide a playful and engaging experience for the young audience.
The unveiling event was attended by numerous community leaders, including City of Tacoma Mayor and Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound President and CEO Carrie Holden. Their presence underscored the significance of the day’s events and highlighted the importance of partnerships in driving positive change and fostering opportunities for youth.
At NPCE, we believe in empowering community members with the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to control their own destinies. Our collaboration with Comcast and BGC of the South Puget Sound to create the Lift Zone computer lab is a testament to this belief. The overwhelmingly positive response from the Club’s young members highlighted the success of this program’s mission.
“We are proud to have played a part in this initiative and look forward to continuing our efforts to advance digital equity, inspire young minds, and build a future filled with unlimited possibilities for children, youth, and communities across the country,” concluded Ebby Sabbagh, NPCE President & CEO.
